I've Got the Disney Cruise Blues!

When I whine about missing my ship, my island and that it has been over 5 months since my last Disney Cruise, the husband tells me I have the Disney Cruise blues.  He even makes up a song, with a “blues” twang, to serenade me in my condition.

So, what do I miss exactly?  I miss the ease and beauty of a Disney Cruise Line vacation.  Getting to the ship using Disney transports is easy and seamless and once on-board, everything is a piece of cake! (and you can eat your cake, too)  What I think Disney tries to do is to anticipate guest needs even before guests have the need and this philosophy is so apparent while sailing with Disney Cruise Line.  And, it is wonderful to not have to worry about taking care of anything. . . other than getting out of bed—which you don’t have to do if you don’t want to—and getting dressed, even if that means just donning a swim suit.  Of course, the ship is in “ship shape” and everywhere you look it is a vision of beauty, especially on Castaway Cay.

I miss my slice of paradise—Castaway Cay.  I miss the sounds of music, wind, the ocean, and ship horns.  I miss the smells of sea air, sunscreen, and BBQ!  Just a note that while we were dining on BBQ ribs at Whispering Canyon Café, we couldn’t help but compare them to the ribs we had just days earlier at Cookies BBQ on the island—Cookies definitely had the better ribs!  I miss the feel of sand on my toes, the warmth of the sun, and the complete relaxation that comes from being in paradise.  Did I tell you about the red frothy drinks?

Oh, and the sites!  Castaway Cay is a feast for the eyes!  Endless horizon of crystal blue water, waving palm trees, and that majestic ship in the distance waiting to welcome me back to its comforts are for the viewing.

How do I combat Disney Cruise blues?  Looking at photos, listening to music, chasing the warmth of the sun are ways to combat the blues, but the best way is to plan the next trip!

Our next Disney Cruise is over a year away.  We are already starting to plan—which days to fly, where to stay pre-cruise and post cruise to get the most out of our vacation, and which cruise to book while on board!
