Friday evening, Bixby's Rainforest Rescue Live came to Bridge View Center. That's Bixby, the boy, and a friend in the photo above. We saw this show one year ago and there were many enhancements added to the show this year. More about that later. . .
The trailer for the National Tour was parked in the parking lot. The trailer holds the props and takes the animals from one location to another.
Here's a ticket from the event!
One of the enhancements added to this year's show is the "Pre-show." The Pre-show is included with admission and is the hour before the performance. The Pre-show allows guests of the show to see the many animals in the show up close. The boy's favorites were the lemurs.
There were also digital enhancements to this year's show. I don't have any photos, as the show is Copyrighted, so it would be an infringement for me to take photos of the show and then display them, so I will do my best to describe what I saw. The digital enhancements include a large screen that displays a live feed of the action on stage for some of the time. Think about live concerts and how there are usually big screens to project the action on stage for those not up close. Same idea, but the point is for audience members to see the animals close up. . . via projection.
This same projection screen allows for animated enhancements to the show. The magic words now include the directions on a compass and the compass appears when the magic words are used. Also, a map is displayed when new animals are introduced to show where the animal originates. All very engaging!
This is the sloth--just in case it is hard to tell.
In addition to the large projection screen, the stage now has multiple levels and is used throughout the show. A safari vehicle of sorts has also been added. Picture a golf cart gone wild!
There is more music and more puppetry in the show this year. What is still the same is the magic of Bixby!
Check out the Bixby and Friends web-site! And, Bixby is also on Facebook!
