Where Will Disney Sail in 2012?
What’s in store for Disney Cruise Line in 2012? Last year at about this time, Disney announced a “you have to hear it live pod-cast” for October. Big announcements about the future of Disney Cruise Line and itineraries were about to happen. And, the pod-cast did include the big announcement that DCL would be taking guests to Alaska in the summer of 2011 aboard the Disney Wonder and that the Wonder would be making its home in San Pedro, California, at the World Cruise Terminal, offering Mexican Riviera itineraries as well. Bookings for those itineraries began in early November of 2009,
So, here we are one year later. DCL’s list of available cruises is dwindling to only one year’s worth of itineraries, mostly for 2011.
The Dream is coming on-line January 26, 2011, making Port Canaveral its home port for a few years and The Fantasy is to follow in 2012.
I e-mailed our travel agent the other day to see if she had heard anything. Nothing. I’ve searched the Disney web-sites for a hint of information. Nothing.
Speculation abounds as to the 2012 offerings for Disney Cruise Line. DCL will have already been in Europe and the Mediteranian for two summers in a row—2010 and 2011. Alaska, the Caribbean and Bahamas, and the Mexican Riviera will already be ports of call. So, we are hoping for a Hawaiian itinerary. Disney’s newest vacation club property in Hawaii is starting to take reservations for the fall of 2011, its grand opening. The property is said to be a destination in itself with water features, dolphins, etc. Combine that with all the other offerings Hawaii has to offer, including island hopping, and you have a nice 10 day cruise to and from San Pedro.
I’ll keep you posted when I hear more. . . In the meantime, more Disney dreamin’!
