Honey, I Shrunk The Kids Movie Set Adventure Playground to Be Closed and Re-themed

Honey, I Shrunk the Kids Movie Set Adventure Playground at Disney Hollywood Studios is scheduled to close in January, 2011, for a major refurbishment. (Click here to read about the attraction.)



Rumors on the internet street indicate the attraction will open with a new theme—Pixar’s A Bug’s Life--making that area of Hollywood Studios “Pixar Place.”



Pixar Place is already a well traveled portion of the park featuring Toy Story Mania and Woody and Buzz’s Picture Shootin’ Corral. Having a playground around the corner themed to another Pixar feature—A Bug’s Life—would make the area even more of a Pixar Place—sort of.



You see, there’s still the Backlot Tour attraction located between Toy Story Mania and the newly themed playground. Now, the Backlot Tour is also scheduled to be closed in January of 2011 for rehab. Hmmm. . . will the Backlot Tour be re-themed? Will the Backlot Tour have another entrance further away from Pixar Place? (geographically, it is possible.)



With all the closures and rehabs going on at Hollywood Studios between now and next summer –Star Tours, Playhouse Disney, One Man’s Dream (it just re-opened with a new section), Backlot Tour, and now the playground, Hollywood Studios will seem like a brand new park. We can’t wait to experience it!
