50’s Prime Time Café is located in the heart of Disney’s
Hollywood Studios in the Echo
Lake area and next door
to Hollywood & Vine restaurant—actually, the restaurants share bathrooms.
Just like all other aspects of Walt Disney World, 50’s Prime
Time Café is themed so well you feel like you have stepped into another time
when entering. We were greeted by Chris
who checked for our reservation and then told us to wait in the “living room”
which was decorated in full 50’s style.
A bar is adjacent to the living room if you care for a drink.
Soon, we were escorted to our table and our server, “Mama”
appeared to tell us the rules of the kitchen; no elbows on the table, eat your
vegetables, etc. We were also given “homework”
to complete while we waited for our meal—a list of 20 Disney/Pixar titles of
movies, shorts, or cartoons that had only one word in the title. Aladdin,
Bambi, Cinderella, Bolt, UP, Brave,
and Cars were on our list. Can you finish the list? We did and earned a gold star! Clean Plate Club stickers are given out
frequently, too.
TV screens are placed strategically throughout the
restaurant for guests to view clips of episodes from 50’s favorites, hence the
title of the restaurant. The boy was
intrigued that the shows were shown in black and white, no color. Look for your favorite as they reply on a
loop.
Dining selections at 50’s Prime Time Café are not exotic,
unless you consider collard greens exotic and they are happy to switch them for
other vegetables. Fried chicken, roast
beef, meatloaf, and pot pies are staples on the menu. But it is the famous PB & J (peanut
butter and jelly) shake that stands out and the husband enjoyed his very much.
We have eaten at 50’s Prime Time Café on two different occasions,
both with satisfaction.
Hey! That's me! I'm so attractive!
ReplyDeleteMichael Ottinger,
DeleteYou cracked me up when we entered and checked in for our reservation. We'll be back at the end of February. Will you be there?
