Overview of Our July 2013 Walt Disney World Vacation

Our July trip to Walt Disney World, trip number 11, is planned and paid in full.  Our travel agency is offering a cash back incentive for paying in full prior to March 15, so we bit the bullet and made the final payment yesterday.  Here are our plans:

Pre-flight day—drive to Kansas City for an overnight stay at Embassy Suites.  This will allow us to park our car at the hotel for the duration of our trip.

Day 1—Direct flight—yipee!  We also have the opportunity for an upgrade which would eliminate checked bag fees.  We arrive in Orlando around 2:00 pm and are planning on hitting a water park after we arrive at our Disney resort.  Swim suits will be packed in our carry-on bags.

Day 2—A little EPCOT action is planned along with Storybook dining with the Princesses at Akershus late in the morning.  The boy wants to try Agent P’s adventure around World Showcase and of course we will hit the big ones—Soarin’ and Test Track.  A monorail, well two monorails, will whisk us to dinner at ‘Ohana’s at the Polynesian Resort.

Day 3—We will be transported to a land of animals when visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom.  Tusker House will provide us with a late breakfast including character dining and we will step outside the park for dinner at Rainforest Café.

Day 4—The New Fantasyland will be our goal as we visit the Magic Kingdom.  Looking forward to some face time with Winnie the Pooh and friends during a late breakfast at Crystal Palace.  We have dinner plans at The Plaza along with a reserved spot to watch Wishes, thanks to our travel agency.

Day 5—It’s back to EPCOT with lunch plans at Nine Dragons and dinner plans at Teppan Edo.  We will be eating our way through Asia on this day!

Day 6—Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be our destination!  The only other plan for the day is a reservation for Spirit of Aloha dinner show at the Polynesian Resort.

Day 7—A water park will be calling our name today after we have breakfast with Stitch at ‘Ohana’s.  Chef Mickey will be serving us dinner and we may head to the Magic Kingdom after dinner.

Day 8—The family will call this day a “break day” as we are heading to Downtown Disney with a lunch at T-Rex Café.  We will finish the day at EPCOT with a late dinner at Rose & Crown along with watching Illuminations.

Day 9—We are heading back to Hollywood Studios.  We have reserved seating for Fantasmic after having dinner at Mama Melrose.  Maybe I will get to see the Beauty and the Beast stage show this trip.

Day 10—Water park here we come!  We may also take in some miniature golf.  The plan is to finish the day at Downtown Disney and DisneyQuest.  (The husband’s job is to research DisneyQuest, the multi-story indoor arcade.)

Day 11—Our last day!  We are spending the day in the Magic Kingdom and will enjoy dinner at Be Our Guest, the newest restaurant on property.  I’m sensing we will end our vacation on a very sweet note.

Day 12—Return flight to Kansas City and drive home.  Our flight leaves later in the morning, so no 4:00 am bus ride to the airport, thank goodness.  We will also be able to take advantage of Resort Airline Check-in, which is so convenient.

Well, there you have it; a Williams Family summer vacation.  Pretty good if I do say so myself.   The anticipation continues to build!

  1. Wow! Sounds like a blast!
It's so funny how different everyone does Disney. Dining is obviously a big thing for your family, where as for us it is not. It's just one thin we don't spend the money on. After 8 Disney trips we have only ever once eaten at a sit down service restaurant in a Disney park!
We do plan to do a character breakfast on our next years trip for my sons birthday. And there may be a reservation booked for blue bayou for my 5th wedding anniversary :)

    1. Carolyn,
You are so right! Everyone does do Disney differently and that is the point. . . there is no one right way to have a perfect Disney vacation.
For us, the variety of dining is something we look forward to. When our 10 year old is looking forward to Be Our Guest, you get some sense of the way we travel.
I sure hope you get to eat at Blue Bayou for your anniversary and get in some character dining!
Thanks for your comments. Always enjoy hearing from you!
