“Where do you find those matching shirts?” has replaced the
question, “Why do you wear matching shirts?” (Click here to find the answer to that question.) Since there have been many questions and comments on the Williams Family Blog as of late regarding
our tradition of wearing matching shirts on our Disney trips, I thought I would
give a review and history of some of our various shirt sets and where we got
them. And, I’m getting ready to pack so
this review will be helpful. I’m
including photos from our two most recent Disney vacations minus any
duplicates.
Here we go:
Ah, the green Disney shirts were purchased on-line at Disneystore.com. Right now, this same design can be found in the "customize" section of the website. We have thought about a neon version of the wording on black for another set for us.
The LGM (Little Green Men) from Toy Story was a custom design on Zazzle.com. Click here to read more.
These orange shirts featuring Winnie the Pooh at Animal Kingdom were a find during one of our trips. We were at Rafiki's Planet Watch at Disney's Animal Kingdom and found the shirts in the store at a discount price. I snatched them up! It was difficult to find matching designs offered in both children and adult sizes. Now that the boy can wear an adult size, we only need to find the design in multiple sizes.
Our purple "Williams Family Doing Disney" shirts were a custom design at the t-shirt shop in Downtown Disney where you can design your own shirt right there in the store. Click here to read more.
White collared shirts for a more formal portrait were found at various locations. Mine was a hand-me-down from my sister-in-law. The husband's and boy's came from various locations. Hint: with a young boy wearing a white shirt and having his picture taken we either do pictures early in the day, bring Shout wipes and Tide sticks, or bring a second shirt. For this photo, we did all of the above!
The long blue long sleeve Disney shirts have been with us since our very first trip in 2006. I purchased them from Disneystore.com.
The red tie-dye shirts are one of our favorites, but as you can see, the boy's has made its last trip. We found these in the little shop at the exit of Mickey's Philharmagic in the Magic Kingdom. I was drawn to them right away, but didn't make the purchase. It haunted me the rest of our trip and when I returned to the shop was lucky that the sizes we wanted were still available. Lesson: When you see something like that, don't wait. Make the purchase right away.
Our Monster's Inc. shirts were purchased at a kiosk in Tomorrowland in the Magic Kingdom, just outside Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin and Laugh Floor Comedy Club. We wanted to wear them to see Mike and Sully, who loved the shirts. Now, we have to get some with Sully on them so he isn't offended. (I've got a design saved on Zazzle.com when we are ready for another set of matching shirts!)
Donald Duck doesn't look as happy as we do, but these shirts were found on-line at Disneystore.com. Often times t-shirts can be found on-sale.
The teal Disney shirts were purchased from Disneystore.com at the same time the green t-shirts were--as they have the same design, just different colors.
These yellow "Celebrating with the Mouse" shirts were a custom design on Zazzle.com to commemorate our Disney Cruise Line/Walt Disney World summer vacation 2011. The back of the shirt is customized as well.
Mine, Mine, Mine. . . is what the seagulls say in Finding Nemo and that is what is on these light green shirts. This was another one of those I found them and bought them scenarios. We saw them in a shop on Castaway Cay, Disney Cruise Line's private island in the Bahamas. But I have seen them in shops throughout EPCOT, too.
The yellow "Cruising With the Mouse" shirts were a custom design on Zazzle.com. We have worn them a couple of times and they are on our packing list for the next trip.
Designing and wearing customized or matching shirts on a Disney trip can be great fun. We have been doing it since our very first trip though we only had one set of shirts at the time--we have many more now.
Discounts and deals can be had, as paying full price is something I tend to avoid. Zazzle's site has a list of all specials and discounts and you can enter your email to get notifications. Disneystore.com also has frequent sales or offers for free shipping and you can register your email to get notifications. Be sure to go through Ebates or Swagbucks when you make your on-line purchase so you can get money back.

Good luck and have fun!
I really like your shirts that say Disney. I went to Disneystore.com site under personalize it but I am have trouble finding that design. Could you help me out in finding it.
ReplyDeleteAmyknoche,
ReplyDeleteYou are in the right spot! When at Personalize, choose Design Your Own. Then, pick Mickey and Friends as your character. A display of characters will come across the top of the screen, then select Other. Three different Disney word designs will appear at the top. Pick the one you want and start customizing. Have fun!
My shirts arrived today now 3 months 10 days 16 hours and 28 mins to go... Not sure I will make it
ReplyDeleteMichael,
ReplyDeleteYeah! I know waiting can be difficult. I am sure you are up to the task. Savor the anticipation! And, congrats on the shirts!
