Wearing Matching Shirts--Are We Running Out of Time ?

I fear our time may be running out on the wearing matching shirt tradition at Disney.  The boy is showing signs of revolt, rebellion. . . maturity.  Not that wearing matching shirts at Disney is immature, we are just beginning to reach that stage.  You know the one where the child is embarrassed by all things parental.

In addition to the potential backlash that maturity brings, another barrier is that he is growing!  And, while I have tried to stay ahead of the curve by ordering some of our matching shirts in a bigger size for him, our “set” options are dwindling quickly.  I did order a Mickey fleece pullover yesterday to match the ones the husband and I have as the boy had outgrown his. . . and it was on sale!

There are still some hopeful signs, like him asking to pack certain shirts, the pink Stitch t-shirts for example were asked for and will be packed for our next trip.  He also asked if we were taking the shirts with Donald Duck on them crashing into the wall.

Another hopeful sign was when he asked to take the reindeer antler headband for photo opportunities in addition to his Santa hat, also for our next trip.

So, all is not lost or hopeless, and I have a few more tricks up my sleeve.  There are some saved, “in progress” designs on Zazzle.com in our account with a few of the boy’s favorite characters—Tow Mater, Sully from Monster’s, Inc., and of course, Mickey Mouse.  Oh, and a black t-shirt with a neon Disney motif may be a design he is willing to wear.

I had been warned that this stage would be coming by friends, family, and co-workers.  Part of me was in denial.  But the signs are there.  Still, I’m not giving up the dream just yet as a dream is a wish your heart makes.
