Last Saturday, the elementary physical education teachers and department head, hosted an event for students in our local mall.
Students were invited to attend and participate in the stations located throughout the mall. The stations varied from stretching to jumping rope to navigating an obstacle course on scooters to nutrition.
Students rotated in 5 minute increments through each of the stations. Here’s a map of the mall with the stations marked:
The event, aptly named Jump 2011, was well organized and well attended.
And, while the event was aimed towards 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students, younger students were welcomed and participated.
It was great fun for the kids and kept them active for up to 2 hours.
The photo above was taken at the rest and nutrition station where water and healthy snacks were available for free for the kids. My only suggestion might have been to have access to hand sanitizer prior to participating in this station.
Thanks to the volunteers and physical education teachers who made the event possible. We hope a similar event will be available next year!
