TTA in the Magic Kingdom Gets a New Name

What is old is new again as the saying goes and therefore, TTA, otherwise known as Tomorrowland Transit Authority in the Magic Kingdom, is getting a new name. As of August 5, 2010, the attraction has been renamed Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover. The new name is a throwback to the attraction’s original name WEDway PeopleMover.

The Magic Kingdom at the Walt Disney World Resort opened its doors to guests on October 1, 1971. WEDway PeopleMover came on line in 1975. It was named after WED Enterprises the name at the time for what is now known as Disney Imagineering. In 1994 the attraction was renamed Tomorrowland Transit Authority and held that name until August 5, 2010.

The attraction is located in the middle of Tomorrowland at the Magic Kingdom and coincidentally in the middle layer between The Lunching Pad on the ground level and Astro Orbiter on the top level. To get to Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover find the moving ramp and ride up the continuously moving cars and take a several minute tour over and around Tomorrowland. The attraction was refurbished just a few months ago during the time that Space Mountain got a major rehab. You can now see less of Space Mountain as you ride through on the TTAPM than you could before. The rest of the ride is pretty much the same. When you ride, listen for the pages as you near Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin.
