During our one and only non-Disney trip to Orlando (click here to read more) we took a day to explore International Drive, also known as I-Drive. Our primary objective was Train Land International, located just across the road from the Pirate Adventure Golf. Train Land International boasts the largest indoor G-gauge train layout and was a must see for our train fan. Train Land International did not disappoint! But more about that another time.
While at Train Land International, we discovered that in addition to trains, they offered helicopter tours over Orlando. Hmm. . . And, they had an opening just when we were there. It was settled. We weighed in, literally, as they adjust the helicopter based on weight, picked the length of our tour—30 minutes was good, put our bags in a locker—no bags allowed on the helicopter, and posed for the photographer, as a commemorative photo and photo CD were a part of our package.
The helicopter was already whirring when we went out to the pad and it was a bit loud.
We all got buckled in and were given headsets. The headsets protect our ears, but also offer communication with each other with the microphones attached.
Up, up, up and away!
We flew over I-Drive and got to see SeaWorld from the air. That’s Shamu Stadium.
We saw Discovery Cove, just next to SeaWorld. You can swim with dolphins at Discovery Cove.
There’s Universal Studios from above.
And, there’s Islands of Adventure. Can you see the Hulk Roller Coaster?
There’s Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon!
We also say Aquatica, SeaWorld’s water park—click here to read more.
This was our first helicopter tour and ride and was quite an adventure! To read about our 2nd helicopter tour—over the Grand Canyon—click here.
