We Saw Toy Story 3!

For Father's Day, one gift the husband received was three tickets to Toy Story 3 in 3D. We drove to our local theater, purchased our popcorn and candy (with the $5 concession coupon from the Kellogg cereal box codes), and donned our 3D glasses for the much awaited feature.

Here are our reviews:
The Boy: Awesome! Cool! My favorite part was when Buster fell on Woody.

The Husband: It was funny, dark, heart wrenching, and uplifting. It was very intense towards the end when you thought the toys would meet their demise in not a good way. The passing of the "hat" so to speak at the very, very end leaves the story open for a sequel. Can you say Toy Story 4, anyone? Be sure and watch the end credits for the funny bits from other toys that may not be featured in the movie. You don't need to see the 3D version. Toy Story 3 will become a fixture next to Toy Story and Toy Story 2 in your video library.

Me: Disney and Pixar have done it again! Who knew you could learn so many life lessons from a group of animated toys? Loyalty, love, friendship, kindness, smarts, cleverness, and family are all heavy themes throughout. I agree with the husband in that there are a couple of particularly dark scenes. Is it a Tim Burton influence? Anyway, the story is adventurous and touching. I had to dry my eyes before the comic relief moments at the end. I laughed many times at the adult only humor embedded throughout, just like I did when watching The Bee Movie. It was as if I was the only one in the audience who got all the references to The Graduate. . . but I digress. The scene at the top of the vending machine is a hoot. Anyone who sees this movie who works in a daycare will never look at the toys the same way again! And, I agree with the husband, as soon as this movie is released on video, it will sit proudly in our home next to Toy Story and Toy Story 3.

Go see it! Take your family, take your date, take your wife, and take your Kleenex or hankie!

  1. We agree! We also went to see Toy Story 3 for Father's Day and we had similar feelings about the movie!! Though JR and I must have been feeling particularly tired after our adventure to the World as we both fell asleep in the movie for just a few minutes!!!
